KOTC: IMMINENT DANGER RESULTS - Strikeforce's Daniel Cormier Captures King of the Cage Heavyweight Title 8/13/10

KING OF THE CAGE: IMMINENT DANGER was held Friday August 13, 2010 at the Inn of the Mountain Gods Casino in Mescalero, New Mexico. The main card aired live on HDNet.

Two-time Olympian and NCAA Division I wrestling stand-out Daniel Cormier won the KOTC Heavyweight Championship with a submission victory over Tony Johnson Jr. Cormier is next set to compete on the STRIKEFORCE: HOUSTON undercard in a non-title fight with Jason Riley.

Two other fighters successfully defended their titles. Quinn Mulhern handed Levi Stout the first loss of his career with a rear-naked choke in the opening round to keep the KOTC Welterweight Championship and improve his record to an impressive 13-1. Mulhern is a legit fighter who definitely has to be on the UFC's radar. The colorful Bobby "King" Green also took out an unbeaten fighter, choking out Daron Cruickshank to retain the KOTC Junior Welterweight Championship.

by MMAmadman Randy Rowles

BELLATOR FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 24 will be held Thursday August 12, 2010 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. The main card will air live on Fox Sports Net at 8:00 pm EST.

This preview includes betting odds, win-loss records with last 5 fights, Madness Levels and Madman Predictions for every fight on the main card. Betting lines are translated into chance-of-winning percentages.

Betting odds are from SportBet, and were current as of 5:00 am EST on 8/12. Betting lines are for entertainment purposes only and are included here to illustrate bookmaker projections.

Madness Levels indicate the amount of insanity inspired in anticipation of a fight on a scale of 1 to 10, a numerical translation of just how excited I am for each fight.

Striving to be the most analytically astute fight preview column possible. Let the madness begin...

MADNESS LEVEL (1-10): 5

I always enjoy seeing Hector Lombard in action. I am, however, much more looking forward to his upcoming Bellator Middleweight Championship fight with Alexander “Storm” Shlemenko. This is a warm-up fight against former NFL football player Herbert Goodman, who played 2 seasons for the Green Bay Packers (2000-01) as a running back. Goodman had a grand total of 4 carries for -3 yards and 1 reception for 0 yards. Goodman fumbled twice in the 4 times he touched the ball from the backfield during his NFL stint. Goodman’s MMA career has gone much better than his NFL career. Starting with a big knockout win over former UFC fighter Jordan Radev, Goodman has gone 7-2 coming into this fight, which is the biggest of his career. A win over Lombard could get Goodman a shot Strikeforce, given their penchant for former NFLers. The problem is, Lombard is currently riding a 14-fight winning streak, and hasn't lost in 19 fights (had draw with Kyle Noke). It's going to take more than a Whisper to stop Lombard's momentum.

PREDICTION: Hector Lombard by TKO in Round 1
