UFC 126: SILVA VS BELFORT was held Saturday, February 5, 2011 (2/5/11) at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main card aired live on PPV. Three preliminary bouts aired on Spike TV during the hour preceding the PPV and Demetrious Johnson vs Kid Yamamoto was streamed live on Facebook.com/UFC.

In the main event, Anderson "The Spider" Silva retained his UFC Middleweight Championship with an impressive first round teep kick knockout victory over fellow Brazilian Vitor "The Phenom" Belfort. Silva landed the push kick, usually a defensive tool, to the jaw of Belfort, which instantly dropped the former UFC light heavyweight champ. Silva hesitated for a second, until he realized the referee wasn't stopping the fight, and then hit the dazed and confused Belfort with a couple of punches before the ref finally intervened.

UFC 126 BONUSES: $75K Bonus Payouts for Anderson Silva, Jon Jones, Donald Cerrone and Paul Kelly - 2/5/11

The UFC awarded a total of $300,000 in bonus money to 4 fighters for UFC 126: SILVA VS BELFORT, held Saturday February 5, 2010, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

After every UFC event, Zuffa officials pay out bonuses to fighters for exceptional performances. These bonuses are paid in addition to the athlete's contracted salary, or fighter purse.

The awards for Fight of the Night went to Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone and Paul Kelly for their spirited undercard fight that headlined the hour-long Spike TV prelim special. After a back-and-forth first round, Cerrone got Kelly to the ground in the second round and locked him up in a body triangle. Cerrone worked over Kelly on the mat until he was able to sink in a neck-wrenching rear-naked choke for the tapout.

Knockout of the Night was awarded to UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva for his amazing front kick KO of Vitor Belfort. UFC announcer Joe Rogan proclaimed this to be the first time he's ever seen a teep kick knockout in any combat sport.

Undercard fighters Paul Taylor, Kyle Kingsbury and Mike Pierce were also eligible for the knockout bonus based on their preliminary card victories. Kingsbury and Pierce scored TKO's in the opening two fights of the card, while Taylor put away Gabe Ruediger with a beautiful head kick knockout in the third fight.

Submission of the Night was awarded to Jon "Bones" Jones for his second round guillotine choke submission win over fellow top light heavyweight prospect Ryan Bader. After the fight, it was announced that current 205-pound number one contender Rashad Evans blew out his knee in training and will not be able to fight UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Shogun Rua at UFC 128. Instead, Jones will now be given the championship opportunity based on this victory.

Fight of the Night winner Donald Cerrone was the only other fighter eligible for the submission bonus based on his chokeout of Paul Kelly.
