TITAN FC 17: LASHLEY VS OTT was held Friday, March 25, 2011, at the Historic Memorial Hall in Kansas City, KS. The main card aired live on HDNet.
In the main event, former WWE superstar Bobby "The Dominator" Lashley used his significant size and strength advantage to put a monumental beating on John Ott in the first round, but Lashley was unable to finish his smaller opponent in the referee's eyes. The fight arguably could've been stopped when Lashley had Ott on the ground pounding away at his face, but bruised and battered, Ott was able to hang on until the round ended.
For the final two rounds, Bobby Lashley was breathing incredibly heavily through his mouth and was just too exhausted to do anything beside take John Ott to the mat and hold him there. The heavyweight Lashley was an accomplished amateur wrestler and Ott is a more natural middleweight fighter, so once Lashley was able to get a hold of Ott, the takedowns were elementary. Ott, still with gas left in his tank, made a late surge, but Lashley was just too big and powerful for him. Lashley has a million dollar physique but it comes at the cost of any semblance of lasting cardio. I wouldn't be surprised to see Lashley return to pro wrestling after yet another miserable MMA performance.
