Instinct Mixed Martial Arts presented INSTINCT FIGHTING 1 on Friday, October 7, 2011, at the Centre d'Excellence Sports Rousseau in Boisbriand, Quebec, Canada.

In the main event, former pro hockey enforcer Steve "The Boss" Bosse scored the biggest win of his MMA career in what most observers called the Fight of the Night against former UFC star Houston "The Assassin" Alexander. The lesson learned is that even assassins have bosses. And on this night, Bosse did the assassinating. The Canadian used a short right elbow to drop the American dead in his tracks.

The co-main event was cut short after Crafton Wallace's leg was seriously injured after being slammed hard by a double leg takedown from former UFC middleweight title challenger Patrick "The Predator" Cote. Ironically, almost 3 years ago, Cote's UFC title shot against Anderson Silva ended after Cote suffered a knee injury.

MFC 31 RESULTS: Ryan Jimmo Outpoints Sokoudjou; Kajan Johnson, Adam Lynn and Terry Martin Win Big in Canada - 10/7/11

In the main event, twenty-five minutes that featured less action than an average sparring session, Ryan "The Big Deal" Jimmo retained his MFC Light Heavyweight Championship and improved his current winning streak to 16 straight fights. After former UFC fighter Rameau Thierry "The African Assassin" Sokoudjou busted open Jimmo's forehead in the first round, Jimmo became extremely tentative for the next 4 rounds. Sokoudjou fought his normal fight. He often gets credited for being more of an aggressive fighter than he actually is in competition.

BELLATOR FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 52 was held Saturday, October 1, 2011, at the L'Auberge du Lac Casino and Resort in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The main card, which featured the quarterfinals of the Bellator Season 5 Heavyweight Tournament, aired live on MTV2 and EPIX.

Advancing in the tournament are Mike "300" Hayes, Blagoi Ivanov, Eric "American Soldier" Prindle, and Ron "The Monster" Sparks. The heavyweight semifinals will be held at Bellator 56, and will feature Mike Hayes vs Blagoi Ivanov and Eric Prindle vs Ron Sparks.

World-renowned Muay Thai kickboxer Cosmo "Good Boy" Alexandre (who has now Americanized his last name to Alexander) made his MMA debut on the undercard. The newly-minted Alexander lost a clean sweep unanimous decision to Josh Quayhagen, who was also making his pro MMA debut, but was expected to lose.
