SUPERIOR CAGE COMBAT 3: ALESSIO VS FIRMINO was held Friday, November 4, 2011, at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
In the main event, Xtreme Couture representative John "The Natural" Alessio won a close decision victory over former PRIDE fighter Luiz "Buscape" Firmino. The former UFC and WEC welterweight title contender Alessio was fighting at lightweight for the first time in his MMA career. Although Alessio was taken down several times by the American Top Team grappler, he outscored Buscape on the feet, which likely was the deciding factor in Alessio's 29-28 scores across the board.
In the co-main event, Bristol Marunde won an uneventful 25-minute decision over former UFC fighter Jay Silva for the vacant SCC Middleweight Championship. Silva was a late replacement for Elvis Mutapcic, who likely will now be lined up as Marunde's first 185-pound challenger.
