XFC 18 RESULTS: Reggie Pena Regulates Former UFC Fighter John Salter - 6/22/12

Xtreme Fighting Championships presented XFC 18: Music City Mayhem on Friday, June 22, 2012, at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Tennessee. The main card aired live on HDNet.

Reggie "The Regulator" Pena upset former UFC middleweight John Salter in the main event. Salter dominated the first round and seemed to have Reggie Pena dead-to-rights at one point trapped in an armbar. The referee did an excellent job of not jumping the gun and allowing Pena to work his way out of a really bad and extremely painful-looking situation. Pena turned the tables on Salter immediately in the second round with a guillotine choke for the surprise come-from-behind victory.

Heavyweight Scott Barrett scored multiple takedowns and repeatedly forced former Strikeforce big man Gabriel Salinas-Jones up against the cage to score a strangely scored split decision win in the only fight on the main card to go the distance.

BELLATOR 71 RESULTS: Travis Wiuff, Attila Vegh, Emanuel Newton and Tim Carpenter Advance in 205-Pound Tourney - 6/22/12

Bellator Fighting Championships presented Bellator 71: Wiuff vs Davis on Friday, June 22, 2012, at the Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort in Chester, West Virginia. This event kicked off the 3-part 2012 Summer Series, with Part 2 in July and Part 3 in August.

Advancing to the semifinals of the Bellator Light Heavyweight Tournament were Travis "Diesel" Wiuff, Attila Vegh, Emanuel "The Hardcore Kid" Newton and Tim Carpenter.

Travis Wiuff steamrolled over Chris "The Professional" Davis. Attila Vegh rebounded from his lackluster Bellator debut with a wild and crazy 60-second submission win over Zelg "Benkei" Galesic.

Emanuel Newton slammed Roy Boughton around like a ragdoll in the first round, and then tapped him out less than a minute into the second stanza. Tim Carpenter forced a verbal submission out of Beau Tribolet in an electrifying finish to a fun fight.

Burgeoning bantamweight MMA fighter and Olympic silver medalist wrestler Sara McMann was originally supposed to fight Anita Rodriguez at BXC 1, but Rodriguez withdrew at the last minute. McMann instead competed in an exhibition submission grappling match against Jerri Swanson. McMann submitted Swanson with an Americana shoulder lock.

In the main event, former WEC and Bellator featherweight Rafael "The Law" Dias put a 25-minute drubbing on Greg Jackson's MMA product Ran Weathers.
