CAGE WARRIORS 48 RESULTS: 'White Mike Tyson' John Phillips Surprisingly Submits Chris Fields in London, England - 7/21/12

Cage Warriors Fighting Championship presented CWFC 48: Fields vs Phillips on Saturday, July 21, 2012, at the HMV Forum in Kentish Town, London, England, United Kingdom.

In the main event, John "The White Mike Tyson" Phillips scored his second straight submission hold victory, the first two of his MMA career. Phillips used a guillotine choke to force a tapout from Chris "The Killing" Fields, who had been on a 7-fight winning streak, to earn a shot at the vacant CWFC Middleweight Championship against Pavel Kusch. Phillips was submitted by Kusch in a mere 25 seconds just 3 months ago at Cage Warriors Fight Night 5, but took advantage of this second chance opportunity and will now step in to replace the injured Victor Cheng in a rematch with Kusch for the vacant 185-pound strap.

In the co-main event, The Ultimate Fighter alum Aaron "The Daywalker" Wilkinson quickly sucked the blood out of Leigh "The Boom" Cohoon with a rear-naked choke.

UFC 149 RESULTS: Renan Barao Dominates Urijah Faber to Win Interim Bantamweight Title in Calgary, Canada - 7/21/12

The Ultimate Fighting Championship presented UFC 149: Faber vs Barao on Saturday, July 21, 2012, at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

The pessimists were proven right this time. One of the most injury-riddled UFC cards of all time ended up producing the worst PPV of the year by far. Matthew Riddle and Chris Clements kicked off the main card with an entertaining bout, but then it all went downhill from there until the solid main event. James Head, Cheick Kongo and Tim Boetsch won incredibly boring decisions before Renan Barao and Urijah Faber took the stage.

In the main event, Renan Barao captured the newly created UFC Interim Bantamweight Championship with a 5-round unanimous decision over former WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber. Renan Barao was successful in carrying out a gameplan similar to that used by his Nova Uniao teammate Jose Aldo against Faber in the WEC.
