CFFC 16 RESULTS: Dustin Jacoby, George Sullivan, Sean Santella and Aljamain Sterling Win Title Fights - 8/24/12

Cage Fury Fighting Championships presented CFFC 16: Williams vs Jacoby on Friday, August 24, 2012, at the Borgata Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

In the main event, former UFC fighter Dustin Jacoby captured the vacant CFFC Middleweight Championship with a first-round doctor stoppage victory over local fan favorite Tim "The South Jersey Strangler" Williams.

The other three title fights at CFFC 16 all resulted in the champions retaining their titles. George Sullivan and Sean Santella won close decisions over Tenyeh Dixon and Evan Velez, respectively, to defend the CFFC welterweight and flyweight championships. And Aljamain Sterling choked out Sidemar "Sideco" Honorio to successfully defend the CFFC bantamweight crown.

BELLATOR 73 RESULTS: Attila Vegh and Marcos Galvao Earn Title Shots with Tourney Wins in Tunica - 8/24/12

Bellator Fighting Championships presented Bellator 73: Wiuff vs Vegh on Friday, August 24, 2012, at the Harrah's Tunica Hotel and Casino in Tunica Resorts, Mississippi. The main card aired live on MTV2.

In the main event, Slovakia's Attila Vegh knocked out American MMA ironman Travis "Diesel" Wiuff in a mere 25 seconds to win the Bellator Summer Series 2012 Light Heavyweight Tournament. Wiuff had been undefeated in Bellator with a non-title decision victory over Bellator Light Heavyweight Champion Christian M'Pumbu. Wiuff's storybook comeback ended a page short of a championship rematch with M'Pumbu. Instead, Vegh's tournament victory earns him what will be an international flavored fight with the French 205-pound champ.

In the all-Brazilian co-main event, Marcos Galvao used a series of vicious elbows to finish off Luis Nogueira in the finals of the Bellator Season 6 Bantamweight Tournament.

This victory is bittersweet for Marcos Galvao, who recently lost his mother, and who will now be challenging his Nova Uniao fighting family member Bellator Bantamweight Champion Eduardo Dantas in a mentor versus student showdown at Bellator 79.

UFC president Dana White made the announcement on Thursday during a media teleconference.

“This is probably one of my all-time lows as president of the UFC over the last 11 years,” said White. “For the first time in 11 years, we’re going to cancel an event. Dan Henderson has a partial tear in his MCL and couldn’t continue. He tried to train and tried to continue to work out, he saw doctors and there was nothing we could do to save that fight.”

In the main event, Strikeforce Womens Bantamweight Champion "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey successfully defended her 135-pound title for the first time against former champion Sarah Kaufman. The seemingly unstoppable Olympic bronze medalist judoka has now won 6 straight fights via first-round armbar submission. After the fight, Rousey called out former Strikeforce women's featherweight champion Cristiane Cyborg, who is currently serving a steroid suspension but recently challenged Rousey.

In the co-main event, BJJ black belt Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza showed off his ever-improving stand-up game with a quick knockout of Derek Brunson.
