UFC 157 BONUSES: Rousey vs Carmouche - $50K Bonus Payouts for Robbie Lawler, Robertson, Bermudez and Grice - 2/23/13

UPDATE: Complete UFC 157 Salaries

The UFC awarded a total of $200,000 in bonus money to 4 fighters for performances at UFC 157: Rousey vs Carmouche, held Saturday, February 23, 2013, in Anaheim, California. The event was headlined by Ronda Rousey vs Liz Carmouche in the first-ever female fight in the UFC

After every UFC event, Zuffa officials pay out bonuses to fighters based on exceptional performances. These bonus payouts are made in addition to the contracted salaries or fighter purses of the honored athletes.

The awards for Fight of the Night went to featherweights Dennis Bermudez and Matt Grice. The two preliminary card fighters put on an EPIC back-and-forth slugfest, a malevolent masterpiece of sheer brutality and superhuman fortitude. Both fighters were rocked and/or temporarily unconscious at various stages of the fight, but neither man ever stopped coming forward. This fight was as close to resembling an episode of The Walking Dead as a cagefight is ever going to get.

Knockout of the Night was awarded to the UFC-returning "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler for his first-round TKO of top-ranked welterweight Josh Koscheck. This stunning upset marks the first time that Koscheck has ever lost back-to-back fights in his MMA career. Lawler had been fighting in Strikeforce, the UFC's now-defunct sister promotion, for the past several years. This was Lawler's first fight back in the UFC in over 8 years, and resulted in the biggest win of his nearly 12-year MMA career.

Submission of the Night was awarded to Kenny Robertson for his unconventional kneebar tapout victory over Brock Jardine (yes, the long-lost love child of former UFC fighters Brock Lesnar and Keith Jardine). Robertson was able to take Jardine's back on the ground and sink in his hooks. In an unusual and hard-to-describe move, Robertson reached around the front of his crouched opponent and stretched out his leg in a way that God never intended for a leg to stretch. A surprised Jardine had no choice but to tap out to save his hamstring. Here's a GIF of the funky finish.

All 4 of these fighters banked bonus paychecks, each taking home an extra $50,000 on top of their UFC 157 salaries, enriching their respective UFC 157 fighter purses.
