PAYDAY: UFC on FOX 7 Salaries - Fighter Purses and Bonus Payouts for 'Henderson vs Melendez' in San Jose on 4/20/13


The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) has released the following salary payroll figures for UFC on FOX 7: Henderson vs Melendez, held Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA.

These are the fighter purses as reported to the CSAC by the UFC. See note at bottom of article for more details on the fighter paychecks.

UFC Lightweight Champion Ben Henderson and longtime UFC veteran Frank Mir were the top earners of the night with their $200,000 payouts.

Daniel Cormier made $126,000 ($63K show + $63K win bonus) for 15-minute unanimous decision win.

Josh Thomson made $145,000 ($85K show + $10K win bonus + $50K KO bonus) for 8:44 TKO win.

-Nate Diaz made $15,000 for 8:44 TKO loss.

Matt Brown made $110,000 ($30K show + $30K win bonus + $50K FOTN bonus) for 6-minute TKO win.

Chad Mendes made $56,000 ($28K show + $28K win bonus) for 68-second knockout win.

UFC drew 13,506 in attendance for a $1,333,000 million live gate.

According to these numbers, the average ticket price was around $99.

NOTE: These salary amounts do not include any individual fighter endorsement earnings for this event, nor do they include any undisclosed bonuses which are commonly paid to fighters by Zuffa in private. Fighters pay out of pocket for training, licensing fees and related expenses. Fighters spend months training in preparation for these fights, so they are being paid for the work they've already completed in the gym, as well as their performances on fight night.
