Knockout of the Night was awarded to Max "Blessed" Holloway for his second-round TKO victory over 6-foot-4 featherweight Will Chope. The 22-year-old Holloway came into this fight with less than half of Chope's overall fight experience, but Holloway was fighting in the UFC for the seventh time, while Chope was making his UFC debut. Holloway established himself as the better fighter early against Chope, winning the first round with his wise-beyond-his-years striking prowess. Holloway put Chope away in the second round with a barrage of knees and punches to the lanky fighter's body and head.
Submission of the Night was awarded to Russell Doane for his second-round chokeout of BJJ black belt Leandro Issa. While many expected an impressive showing from the scrappy Hawaiian Doane against the more experienced big-stage fighter, few expected Doane would be able to submit Issa, a Brazilian national jiu-jitsu champion. Doane locked on a triangle choke late in the second round, but it appeared that Issa was going to be able to hang on until the end of the round. As the final seconds of the round ticked away, Issa began to slouch until his body surprisingly when limp. Doane noted to the referee that Issa was out, and with one second left in the round, the ref waived off the fight. Doane released Issa, and his unconscious body flopped to the canvas.
All 4 of these fighters banked bonus paychecks, with each taking home an extra $50,000 on top of their UFC Fight Night 34 salaries, enriching their respective fighter purses.
