BELLATOR 114 RESULTS: Middleweight Champ Alexander Shlemenko Submits Brennan Ward for 50th MMA Win - 3/28/14

Bellator MMA Championship Tournaments presented Bellator MMA 114: Shlemenko vs Ward on Friday, March 28, 2014, at the Maverick Center in West Valley City, Utah, a suburb of Salt Lake City. The main card aired live on Spike TV as Episode 5 of Season 10.

In the main event, Bellator Middleweight Champion Alexander "Storm" Shlemenko successfully defended his 185-pound title with a second-round submission victory over Bellator Season 9 Middleweight Tournament winner Brennan "The Irish Bad Boy" Ward. After a strong opening round by the challenger, the Russian found his mojo in the second stanza with a barrage of strikes followed by a sudden standing 10-finger guillotine choke that seemingly came out of nowhere and elicited a quick tapout from Ward.

Daniel "The Weasel" Weichel and Des "The Predator" Green advanced to the finals of the Bellator Season 10 Featherweight Tournament with tedious decision wins.

The main card kicked off with a barnburner between Bellator mainstay Brett "Fudoshin" Cooper and the UFC's The Ultimate Fighter 3 winner Kendall "Da Spyder" Grove. The notorious headcase Grove got knocked out in the second round after scoring a near 10-8 opening round against Cooper, who was mercifully saved by the bell, only to come back to win the fight. Cooper, who has fought and lost decisions to the champion Alexander Shlemenko twice, now advances to the finals of the 4-man Bellator Season 10 Middleweight Tournament.
