WEC 50: CRUZ VS BENAVIDEZ was held Wednesday August 18, 2010 at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. The headlining fight was contested for the WEC Featherweight Championship.
Dominick "Dominator" Cruz and Joseph Benavidez fought for 5 championship rounds in a very close fight that resulted in Cruz keeping his title by split decision. This was Benavidez's second-ever loss, with both losses coming by way of decision against Cruz.
Anthony "Showtime" Pettis displayed an excellent array of flashy striking, including a rare capoeira Au Batido kick (pictured below), en route to a last-second submission win over wrestler Shane Roller. With this victory, Pettis likely earned himself a WEC Lightweight Championship fight with Ben Henderson at WEC 53 in Phoenix.

Chad "Money" Mendes remained undefeated with a decision win over Cub Swanson. Scott "Young Guns" Jorgensen also scored a decision victory in the Madman Fight of the Night with Brad "One Punch" Pickett. Like Anthony Pettis, Jorgensen likely earned himself a title shot with this victory. Jorgensen should be fighting Dominick Cruz next for the WEC Bantamweight Championship.
In the opening televised fight, Bart "Bartimus" Palaszewski handed Zack Micklewright the first defeat of his career with a second round knockout. In the Biggest Upset of the Night and the Quickest Win of the Night, WEC newcomer Maciej "Irokez" Jewtuszko scored a TKO over Anthony "The Assassin" Njokuani in an unaired preliminary card bout.
