PAYDAY: UFC 160 Salaries - 'Velasquez vs Bigfoot 2' Payouts and Bonuses - 5/25/13

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) has released the following salary figures for UFC 160: Velasquez vs Bigfoot II, held Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, May 25, 2013, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.

These salary amounts do not include any individual fighter endorsement earnings for this event, nor do they include any undisclosed bonuses which are commonly paid to fighters by Zuffa in private. Fighters pay out of pocket for training, licensing fees and related expenses. Fighters spend months training in preparation for these fights, so they are being paid for their work already completed in the gym, as well as their performance on fight night.

UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez (pictured above) was the top earner of the night with his $400,000 payout.

UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez and former champion Junior "Cigano" Dos Santos both came into their respective fights as big favorites on the betting lines, and neither man stumbled. In the main event, Velasquez took out Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva in 81 seconds to successfully defend his title for the first time since winning it back from Dos Santos. In the co-main event, Dos Santos caught Mark Hunt with a spectacular spinning wheel kick to knock out the "Super Samoan" with less than a minute to go in the final round.

Both Velasquez and Dos Santos are now 10-1 in the UFC, with each fighter having lost only to the other. With Bigfoot Silva and Mark Hunt both failing to play spoiler, the stars have once again been aligned for an epic showdown between the two best heavyweight fighters on the planet.
