BELLATOR 121 RESULTS: James Thompson and Sokoudjou Win Bellator Debuts at Part 1 of Summer Series 2014 on Spike TV - 6/6/14

Bellator MMA Championship Tournaments presented the first of two Bellator Summer Series 2014 events, Bellator 121: Lins vs Heidlage, on Friday, June 6, 2014, at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma. The main card aired live on Spike TV.

Brazilian Philipe Lins, Lithuanian Egidijus Valavicius and American Kelly Anundson advanced to the next round of the Bellator Summer Series 2014 Light Heavyweight Tournament. The three 205-pound fighters join the already-advanced Brit Liam McGeary in the semifinals of the tourney to determine the next number one contender for Bellator Light Heavyweight Champion Emanuel Newton.

Also picking up wins at Bellator 121 were former PRIDE freak show stars James "The Colossus" Thompson and "The African Assassin" Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou. Thompson easily handled former Bellator heavyweight title contender Eric Prindle, while Sokoudjou devoured his hand-picked prey Terry Davinney.

Hot on the heels of their first-ever PPV and most successful show to date, Bellator 120: Rampage vs King Mo, this follow-up event appeared lackluster on paper and did not exceed its meager expectations. Despite finishes in 3 out of the 4 main card bouts, this was one of the least entertaining Bellator events of all time. Philipe Lins capped off the televised card with a crafty submission, but most of the night's highlights came from the undercard with Joe Vedepo and Cortez Coleman putting on the best fight, and Steve Garcia and Ray Sloan scoring quick and violent finishes.
