BELLATOR 80 RESULTS: Alexander Volkov and Rad Martinez Advance to HW and FW Tournament Finals on MTV2 - 11/9/12

Bellator Fighting Championships presented Bellator 80: Warren vs Evinger on Friday, November 9, 2012, at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. The main card of this event (Episode 7 of Season 7) aired live on MTV2.

In the main event, former Bellator featherweight champion Joe Warren made a successful return to bantamweight against an overmatched Owen Evinger, brother of WMMA star Tonya Evinger. Warren flirted with 135-pounds before, but has now made a permanent move back to bantamweight after suffering a brutal knockout loss to Pat Curran at 145-pounds.

Alexander Volkov advanced to the finals of the Bellator Season 7 Heavyweight Tournament with a last-second knockout of Vinicius "Spartan" Queiroz at the end of the second round. The finish came after referee James Warring, a former pro boxer, inexplicably stood the fighters up from the ground after just mere seconds.

The Rocky Balboa adversary-inspired Russian heavyweight Alexander "Drago" Volkov will fittingly fight American Richard Hale, a real-life Rocky, for the heavyweight tournament title at the Bellator 84 season finale.

Rising star Rad Martinez looked excellent in outpointing MMA veteran Wagnney Fabiano over the course of 15 minutes to advance to the finals of the Bellator Season 7 Featherweight Tournament. Martinez will lock horns with fellow top 145-pound prospect Shahbulat Shamhalaev in the tourney final at Bellator 83.

BELLATOR 56 RESULTS: Ben Askren Defends Title, Eric Prindle and Thiago Santos Advance to Finals - 10/29/11

BELLATOR FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 56 was held Saturday, October 29, 2011, at the Historic Memorial Hall in Kansas City, KS. This event featured the semifinals of the Bellator Season 5 Heavyweight Tournament. The main card aired live on MTV2 and Epix in HD.

In the main event, Bellator Welterweight Champion Ben "Funky" Askren successfully defended his title with a 25-minute split decision victory over veteran fighter Jay "The Thoroughbred" Hieron. After losing the first round to Hieron, Askren took over the middle 3 rounds with his wrestling. Hieron came on strong again in the fifth and final round, dropping Askren with a spinning back kick, but it was too little, too late on 2 of the 3 judges' scorecards. In his post-fight interview, Askren expressed disappointment with his performance, but regardless, the Funky one remains Bellator's 170-pound champ.
