CFFC 34 RESULTS: Nick Honstein Takes Flyweight Title from Sean Santella in New Jersey - 4/19/14

The Cage Fury Fighting Championships presented CFFC 34: Santella vs Honstein on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at the Mennen Sports Arena in Morristown, New Jersey.

In the main event, Aussie "Quick" Nick Honstein scored a unanimous decision victory over American Sean Santella to capture the CFFC Flyweight Championship. This was a tough loss for Santella, who had been riding a 5-fight winning streak and was firmly on the UFC's radar. Instead it will be back to the drawing board for "Shorty Rock," who will now likely need to string together at least a couple of wins to regain the UFC's attention. The Factory X product Honstein, on the other hand, could be courted by the UFC based on this impressive victory, especially considering the UFC's limited number of Australian fighters and their eagerness to further permeate the Australian MMA market.

Bellator MMA Championship Tournaments presented Bellator MMA 116: Johnson vs Ivanov on Friday, April 11, 2014, at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California. The main card aired live on Spike TV as Episode 7 of Season 10.

Continuing his remarkable comeback story, Blagoi Ivanov advanced to the finals of the Bellator Season 10 Heavyweight Tournament with a first-round submission victory over Lavar Johnson in an excellent 4-minute fight. Ivanov will vie for the tournament crown with former Bellator heavyweight champion Alexander "Drago" Volkov, who advanced to the finals with a second-round head kick knockout of "Mighty Mo" Siala Siliga.

In one-half of the Bellator Season 10 Welterweight semifinals, relative unknown underdog Adam "Big Gunna" McDonough put a star-making beating on Nathan Coy. McDonough now awaits the winner of the delayed Andrey Koreshkov-Sam Oropeza semifinal fight at Bellator 118.

Originally an alternate fighter, Brandon "The Bull" Halsey now finds himself in the finals of the 4-man Bellator Season 10 Middleweight Tournament with a dominant decision win over Joe Pacheco. Halsey will tango with Brett Cooper, who has already lost twice to Bellator Middleweight Champion Alexander Shlemenko but nevertheless will be favored against the much less-experienced Halsey.

MMA pioneer Vladimir Matyushenko retired from MMA after a career that has spanned more than 16 years. "The Janitor" retires with a 7-5 UFC record and a 1-1 Bellator record. Matyushenko lost by third-round submission to Joey Beltran in his swan song.
