Maximum Fighting Championship presented
MFC 37: True Grit on Friday, May 10, 2013, at the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The main card aired live on AXS TV.
The original MFC 37 main event was scrapped after Chris Barnett failed his pre-fight medical examination due to an eye injury. The American Barnett was set to face off with top Canadian heavyweight prospect Smealinho Rama for the vacant MFC heavyweight strap. Instead, MFC 37 was headlined by the promotion's first-ever bantamweight fight.
In the makeshift main event, an all-American affair, Anthony Birchak qualified to compete for the inaugural MFC Bantamweight Championship by outpointing Ryan Benoit on the judges scorecards after 15 minutes of exciting action.
In a goofy brother-vs-brother fight, Thomas Treadwell punched his way to a schoolyard-style first-round tapout victory over his older brother Mike Treadwell.
