The Ultimate Fighting Championship presented
UFC on Fox 6: Johnson vs Dodson on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. The main card aired live on the FOX network.
In the main event, UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson successfully defended his 125-pound title with a close unanimous decision victory over The Ultimate Fighter 14 bantamweight tournament winner John "The Magician" Dodson. Billed as a fight between the two fastest athletes in the UFC, the two flyweights lived up to their hype and did their division proud with an action-packed scrap in the UFC's most high-profile 125-pound fight to date. Here are the
main event video highlights.
In the co-main event, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson passed the torch to Glover Teixeira, who won by unanimous decision in what may have been Rampage's UFC swan song. In pre-fight interviews, Jackson expressed a desire to leave the UFC, where he believes he has been disrespected, and his UFC contract is now up. That feeling may be mutual considering Jackson's high price tag and the fact that he has now lost 3 straight fights in the Octagon. Jackson is a huge international MMA star and has done several movies, so unlike a lot of other fighters, he has the option to make significant money outside of the UFC. Although, given the UFC's disclosure that Jackson has made $15.2 million over the past 6 years, he'll certainly be taking a pay cut for his pursuit of happiness. Here are the
co-main event video highlights.
The FOX telecast opened with two beautiful displays of violence by two fighters knocking on the doors of UFC title shots. In a match-up 5 years in the making from their days in the WEC, lightweight Anthony "Showtime" Pettis took out Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone with a devastating liver kick at the midway mark of the opening round. Here are the
video highlights.
In the opening fight on FOX, featherweight Ricardo "The Bully" Lamas unleashed a succession of gnarly punches and elbows from top control that busted open Erik Koch's face something fierce. Blood was spewing from Koch's head and was splattering across the canvas with the thud of each pulverizing elbow before the referee mercifully intervened. Here are the
video highlights.
