UFC 169 RESULTS: Brazilian Teammates Renan Barao and Jose Aldo Defend Titles Against Urijah Faber and Ricardo Lamas on Super Bowl Saturday - 2/1/14

The Ultimate Fighting Championship presented UFC 169: Barao vs Faber 2 on Super Bowl weekend, Saturday, February 1, 2014, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The main card aired live on PPV, and the prelims aired on Fox Sports 1 and streamed on UFC Fight Pass.

With a combined 56-2 record and a 39-fight winning streak, Nova Uniao teammates Renan Barao and Jose Aldo are currently MMA's most dominant duo. Barao defended his undisputed UFC Bantamweight Championship for the first time at UFC 169 in a rematch with Urijah Faber. Their first fight, in July 2012, went 5 full rounds, but this fight did not make it beyond the opening round. Barao dropped Faber several times with big right hands, and the fight was eventually stopped as Barao was delivering hammerfists to the side of Faber's head as he was covering up on the ground. Faber immediately protested the stoppage, saying he had given a thumbs up indicating that he was okay, but referee Herb Dean determined that Faber was not intelligently defending himself and stopped the fight. UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo and Ricardo Lamas went the entire 25 minutes. After winning the first 4 rounds, Aldo dropped the final round to a resurgent Lamas, who put up a noble last-ditch effort despite being simply outclassed by Aldo.
