UFC 161 BONUSES: Evans vs Henderson - $50K Payouts for Shawn Jordan and Sam Stout, $100K for James Krause - 6/15/13

The UFC awarded a total of $200,000 in bonus money to 3 fighters for performances at UFC 161: Evans vs Henderson, held Saturday, June 15, 2013, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The event was headlined by Rashad Evans vs Dan Henderson.

After every UFC event, Zuffa officials pay out bonuses to fighters based on exceptional performances. These bonus payouts are made in addition to the contracted salaries or fighter purses of the honored athletes.

UFC 161 RESULTS: Rashad Evans Edges Dan Henderson, Stipe Miocic Clean Sweeps Roy Nelson on Scorecards - 6/15/13

The Ultimate Fighting Championship presented UFC 161: Evans vs Henderson on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

In the main event, a fight that started out with third-billing before taking over headlining duties after two fights were canceled due to injuries, former UFC light heavyweight champion "Suga" Rashad Evans returned to his winning ways with a split decision victory over one of his MMA idols, Dan "Hendo" Henderson. Evans was coming off back-to-back losses, but has now resurrected his career and his standing in the 205-pound division with this win over top contender Henderson.

In the co-main event, Stipe Miocic shocked the MMA world with a clean sweep unanimous decision victory over Top 10 heavyweight Roy "Big Country" Nelson. This loss throws a significant monkey wrench into Nelson's plans, as this was the final fight of his current UFC contract. Nelson and UFC President Dana White have butted heads since the portly rabble-rouser joined the organization after winning The Ultimate Fighter 10. Nelson had been riding a 3-fight winning streak, but now he goes into contract negotiations coming off an embarrassing loss. Given White's complete disdain for Nelson, it would not be surprising if Nelson's next fight takes place outside of the heralded Octagon.

In other main card action, Ryan "The Big Deal" Jimmo returned to his boring roots to win a dreadfully dull decision over Igor Pokrajac; Alexis "Ally-Gator" Davis outpointed Rosi "The Surgeon" Sexton in yet another exciting UFC women's bout (there has yet to be a bad fight in the UFC between women); and Shawn "The Savage" Jordan lived up to his nickname with a 59-second TKO victory over UFC mainstay and fan favorite Pat "HD" Barry.

With the exception of James Krause's submission win over Sam Stout that came with a mere 13 seconds left to go in their fight, all of the preliminary bouts went the distance. And with the exception of Jake Shields' mind-numbingly boring clinch-fest decision win over Tyron Woodley, all of the prelims featured quality MMA action.
